Meet Our HR Assistant, Chloe Shepherd

12 July 2022 | Blog

I joined The HR Booth in March 2022 as an outsourced HR Assistant whilst finishing University. I first reached out to Alistair at The HR Booth in 2021 whilst finishing my 3rd year and was looking to make connections in the HR world. I wished to peruse a career in HR as I’m a real people person. I get a real sense of pride when helping to make someone’s day that little bit easier. After staying in contact with Alistair via LinkedIn, I was delighted to be offered the position of HR Assistant. I started on a part-time basis whilst finishing my dissertation and later went full time in May upon completion of my studies.

My University Experience

Like many recent graduates, my university experience changed unexpectedly in 2020. I was a 2nd year student who moved home one Friday after watching the news and hearing the concerns regarding Coronavirus. I was expecting to return a few weeks later, how wrong was I? The pandemic caused an abrupt end to face-to-face teaching which resulted in me working from my bedroom for practically the remainder of my university career.

I have only attended 1 module since 2020 which was in person.  After overcoming the different challenges, I am glad to say that I recently graduated from the University of Stirling (in person) with a 2:1 in Human Resource Management and Marketing BS (Hons). It was great to get together in person after so long. Thanks to the lecturers and celebrate with the friends who supported me over Teams besides not meeting them in person.

Job Role

My job role at The HR Booth is HR Assistant. No two days are ever the same which keeps it interesting and exciting. My days consist of day-to-day administrative tasks. I also work with our clients to help fill their recruitment needs and work regularly on employee handbook and documentation.

What do I enjoy the most?

With my Job at the HR Booth, I am never in the same place 5 days a week. I enjoy the flexibility of work, whether that be working alongside out clients on-site, working from home or in an office space. Outsourced HR has been a great place for me to start my career as I am exposed to a variety of different situations and scenarios across a number of industries. I enjoy thinking of new strategies which helps better the workplace and makes a positive change for all. I am also extremely grateful to be working with the professional at The HR Booth who continue to invest in my personal development and expand my personal HR knowledge.
